Text Messaging Consent

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Mango is an AI phone receptionist operated by MM Intelligence. It answers calls for businesses and, when asked, sends short transactional text messages on their behalf. This page describes exactly how consent for those messages is collected and how to stop them.

What gets texted

  • An appointment confirmation after a booking made on the call.
  • Appointment reminders the day before and the day of, if the business turned reminders on. Reply C to confirm or R to ask for a new time.
  • A booking link the caller asked for during the call.
  • Confirmation that a message or callback request reached the office.
  • Call summaries and follow-up notes to the business’s own staff who turned notifications on.
  • Work order updates to the service vendors the business hires: job details, visit times and follow-ups on that job.

These are transactional messages only. Mango never sends marketing or promotional texts.

How callers opt in (verbal consent on the call)

Before Mango sends any text to a caller, the receptionist asks, in these words or very close to them:

“Is this number you’re calling from the best one to reach you, including by text?”

A text is sent only if the caller answers yes. If the caller says no, or gives a different number for calls only, no text is sent. The receptionist then tells the caller what will be texted, for example “you’ll get a confirmation text shortly.” The message itself names the business it comes from and includes opt-out instructions. Calls are recorded, so the consent exchange is kept with the call record.

How business staff opt in

Staff members of a business that uses Mango enter their own mobile number in the Mango dashboard (Settings) and switch on text notifications. The same screen switches them off.

How vendors opt in

A service vendor gives the business their mobile number to receive its work orders, and the business adds it to Mango. The first message Mango sends a vendor introduces Mango as the business’s work order line and says to reply STOP anytime to opt out. A vendor who replies STOP is not texted again.

Disclosures

  • Messages come from the business’s own registered number, or from Mango’s number on the business’s behalf. Messages from Mango’s number start with “Mango:” and name the business they are about.
  • Message frequency varies by request.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out, and HELP for help.
  • Mobile numbers and consent are used only to deliver these messages. They are never shared with or sold to third parties for marketing.

Example messages

  • “[Business]: Your appointment is confirmed for Thursday at 2:00 PM. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “Mango: Hi Rita, a reminder that your consultation at [Business] is tomorrow, Friday, October 9 at 11:00 AM. Reply C to confirm or R to reschedule. Reply STOP to opt out.”
  • “[Business]: We received your message for the office and someone will call you back within one business day. Reply STOP to opt out.”
